According to the Koran, this sacred city is the birthplace of Abraham. Exhibiting the legacy of all the civilizations that have flourished here, its history dates back to 7000 B.C.  Remains of a Roman acropolis overlook the 17th century Ottoman mosques, sacred carp pools, extensive rose gardens, and the vaulted eastern bazaar, famous for its intricate copper work.
